    Welcome to the Fantasy Hockey Cafe!

    The crisp smell of fresh ice is in the air again! The past season was memorable in many ways, and the 2010-2011 season should be just as exciting. While we wait for players to take the ice again, we'll be discussing sleepers, player news, updates and rumors, fantasy hockey strategies, commissioner quandaries, and much, much more. Join us in the Forums for all things hockey from A like assist to Z like Zamboni - whether you're just lacing up your skates for your first fantasy hockey campaign, or your name has already been etched on your dynasty league's trophy, you'll find plenty to help improve your chances for the upcoming season.

    And in stark contrast to the sky-high price of refreshments at pro arenas, everything served up by the Cafe will be free of charge. So stop by, grab a rinkside seat, and get to know a terrific crowd of fantasy hockey buffs from around the world.

    Sleeper Watch

    Do you know who has the second-best save percentage in the NHL right now? It’s not Luongo or Brodeur, but the Atlanta Trashers’ Johan Hedburg instead at .933 in 13 games, starting for what I think is one of the worst defensive (and best offensive) teams in the league. Hedburg is 7-3 this season and is tied for fifth in the league with a 2.15 GAA. As Kari Lehtonen remains out and has not resumed skating, Hedburg is competing for the job with a goalie 14 years his junior, Ondrej Pavelec. Pavelec has allowed three or more goals in 10 of his past 13 appearances and four or more in seven of those games. [More]

    Players to Watch

    Since the majority of fantasy users use Yahoo! Sports to play their fantasy hockey, I figured it would be helpful if I gave a brief guide on players to keep an eye on in the 2008-09 season. There are 16 rounds in a standard Yahoo league. I will break up the draft in quartets and give you a line of players to follow for each quarter. These will be based on Yahoo ADP (average draft positions found the “Draft Central” section of your hockey league. The first group would be Rounds 1-4 (inclusive), then Rounds 5-8, then Rounds 9-12, followed by a round of late round/undrafted players. [More]
