If you’re looking for someone way under the radar, look no further than St. Louis’ Steve Wagner. Wagner was an undrafted free agent that the Blues signed last season out of Minnesota State-Mankato. He was given a shot to make their roster this pre-season and made the most of that opportunity.
He has recently recorded multi-point games in his last two games, including a beautiful pass to David Perron on Monday against the Red Wings. Wagner is playing great hockey and head coach Andy Murray is rewarding him by giving him time on the power play. He has 8 points (2-6-8) and is a +3 on the season with only 6 PIM, so he stays out of the box.
This Grand Rapids, Minnesota native should be given a look if you need an up and coming defender that can put up some nice points.
