Sleeper Watch

By Ryan Wacheldorf

Are you searching for a sleeper this year? Look no further than the Ottawa Senator’s sophomore winger Patrick Eaves. It was reported that Eaves will be playing on Ottawa’s top line with stars Jason Spezza and Dany Heatley.

Eaves had been a prolific point producer during his college carrer, notching 107 points in 84 games for Boston College. He only needed 18 games in the American Hockey League before he was ready to make a splash in the NHL.

In limited duty during 58 games this past season, Eaves net 20 red lighters, including 4 game-winning goals, and 9 helpers. He also saw time on the powerplay and found success there as well; he produced 5 goals and an assist. I expect that Eaves will flourish on the powerplay unit this season.

This young man is a skilled forward and with a full season with the Senators he should experience a drastic improvement to his point totals.

Projections: 29 Goals (10 PPG), 22 Assists, plus/minus rating of plus 10, and 24 PIM.
